Long Island weddings fall into the category of lavish estates overflowing with champagne, shoreline sunsets, and high prices. An incredible Long Island wedding is possible with a little imagination, and it can be one of the best ways to have an unforgettable wedding. Long Island weddings can provide you and your guests with a destination feel without the long travel times.
Summertime is known for its warm breezes, colorful flowers, and seemingly endless days. The summer months are by far the most common time of year for weddings. The only issue is that in all your finery, it can get very hot. Here are a few pointers to help you remain calm at your summer wedding.
Bear in mind that you’ll be wearing your wedding gown during the hot months of the year. A sheath or gown made primarily of light-as-air chiffon may be a good option. If you want a ball gown, another option is to purchase a hoop to wear underneath it. The skirt of the gown can no longer cling to your thighs as a result of this. Having your hair up is also preferable to keep it off of your neck.
In hot weather, the less formal the better. If you’re looking for tuxedos, pay close attention to what they’re wearing underneath their coats. You may want to suggest some odd suspenders that will keep the guys looking stylish when they take off their hot jackets.
Make sure there’s sufficient cover if you’re having a ceremony outdoors. Your ceremony may be performed in a tent or under a big shade tree. If none of these options work for you, you can buy inexpensive paper parasols online, which will look great in your pictures. When your guests are waiting for you to walk down the aisle, make sure they are well hydrated, when they arrive, you can offer custom labeled bottled water. The strength of a hand fan should not be underestimated! Print your program on adorable little paper fans.
If you’re going to do a first look consider breaking the norm and having most of your pictures taken in the morning before the ceremony, when the weather is a little cooler. Then take a break to freshen up, cool down, and replenish your energy. You’ll walk down the aisle calm and composed, allowing you to get to a cocktail hour even faster.
Make a Summer menu of light, new dishes. Your visitors will appreciate it. Pay attention to your wedding cake in the same way. Some icings are better at handling wet, humid weddings than others. Be sure to inform your cake designer of your intended show location. And placing it in front of a wide window to use the view as a backdrop might be worrisome if the sun would be shining through it.
Pick flowers that can withstand the heat with the help of your florist. You don’t have to be concerned about the centerpieces because they’re submerged. On the other side, the bouquets and boutonnieres spend a lot of time out of the water. Have the bouquets shipped in water-filled vases, and hold the vases with you so you can keep your bouquet fresh between photos. They can also be used to make a lovely show on the head table at the reception.
When your guests dance the night away, keep everyone calm by setting up a snow cone machine or an ice cream bar!
If you prepare ahead, you can be the coolest couple in the room no matter what the weather forecast says!
